The Flank Billets
The two flank billets (also called the rear or back billets) anchor the flank cinch to the rigging rings on each side of the saddle. Since strength is not as big a factor here as with the front cinch, these billets are usually made with only one layer of leather, as opposed to the two layers on the off billet.
These billets are usually 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide and about 2 to 3 feet long with holes for buckling to the flank cinch.
