The “Used Saddle Pick of the Week”
Every week we scour the Internet searching for a particularly juicy bargain on a high quality used western saddle and feature it here on the WSG Saddle Blog. The saddles featured are listed for sale on ebay as of the date of the post.
The Western Saddle Guide is not the seller of the saddles featured and does not make any representations about them. We encourage all potential buyers to do their own due diligence on the seller and the saddle before purchasing.
Circle Y is a brand that’s been around awhile. Like so many of the older brands, it’s heyday was 20 or 30 years ago when they were producing the best production saddles in the industry. Today, their saddles are relatively average.
This week, however, we’ve found a pretty nice, little, light oil show saddle from Circle Y. You’re not going to be able to steal this saddle, though, as the starting bid is $499 and the “Buy it Now” price set at $600. I’d try to very close to $500 mark. Don’t get caught up and overbid.
The saddle has a 14″ equitation seat, light oil color, black suede seat, floral tooled with silver trim and matching breast collar. There is no mention of the bar type, but it probably has semi-QH bars. Verify with the seller before bidding.
This would be a nice saddle for a youth or small adult who’s interested in the show ring.

This week’s pick is a really nice Circle Y All Around saddle made in 1990 – a very good period for Circle Y saddles. The newer Circle Y saddles aren’t of the same quality as the older ones.
This saddle hasn’t seen a lot of miles and has been very well cared for.
The saddle has a 16" suede seat, Semi QH bars with a 6 3/4" gullet, basketweave and floral tooling, and a matching breast collar.
The seller is also throwing in a new Weaver leather bridle and bit, and a pair of new, leather-wrapped wooden stirrups.
There’s 6 days left on the auction as of this writing and already 5 bids, but the current bid is only $305. This is a very nice saddle. You might want to consider getting into the bidding action on this one.
