RFD-TV Envy

RFD-TV has some great horse-related shows. I know that because my friend, Chrissy, tells me about them. Taunts me with them, actually. She has satellite TV and I have cable TV.
It used to be that RFD-TV was only offered on satellite TV, but they’re now working hard to get carriage on cable. I’ve already written a letter to Bresnan Communications, my cable company, encouraging them to add RFD-TV to the line up. Since I live in a rural area – total population of 9,000 in a county the size of Connecticut, Vermont and Rhode Island combined – you’d think it would be a no-brainer to add a channel devoted to the rural lifestyle to our line-up, wouldn’t you? Obviously, not so obvious for Bresnan. At least not yet.
For those of you who do have RFD-TV, make sure you check out the show "Best of America by Horseback." Every week host, Tom Seay, visits a different trail riding location. Over the next couple of years they’ll be visiting all 50 states. He even invites you to come ride with him. Now, that’s my kind of travel show.

RFD is actually a public access agricultural channel. It carries 2 hours a day of horse related programming as a carry over of HorseTV in its original form.
HorseTV has since ‘evolved’ into The HorseTV Channel which broadcasts 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week – all horses, all the time.
For those who can’t pick it up on their local cable system, it’s available online as HorseTV Access – just go to the horsetv.com website.
