You really do get what you pay for with western saddles. Quality saddles aren’t cheap. Going used is a good way to stretch the budget and get a lot more saddle for your money.
The best place we’ve found for finding a good selection of quality used western saddles? eBay. Who’d of thunk it. You’ll have to pick through some junk (and trust me, a new saddle for $300, is junk), but it’s worth the work. You’ll find some real pearls in the listings. Don’t get hung up on whether there’s a scuff or a missing stirrup. A good saddle will still be a good saddle even with some miles and a few scars. A bad saddle is always a bad saddle, no matter how pretty it might be.
