A Tough Job But Someone Has To Do It

Yesterday was one of those gorgeous, warm, end of summer days here in southwest Montana. I decided it was a good day to go riding and do some "in-field" research for the Western Saddle Guide. Okay, who am I kidding? I was playing hooky.

But what a great ride we had. My friend Chrissy and I loaded up our two trusty boys and spent the day riding in the mountains. And here's where I cleverly tie in the Western Saddle Guide. My guy, a 15 year old, 14.3 hand quarter horse gelding by the name of Skip, sported a 15 1/2" Crates Trail Saddle. A very comfortable, lightweight model. Chrissy's big boy, Vinnie, a 16.2 hand, 7 year old paint gelding, was modeling a 16" buckaroo style saddle from an unknown saddle maker. It's a very nice slick fork saddle that Chrissy bought used for a song.

The highlight of the ride was meeting a gorgeous cow (female) moose along the trail. She was not concerned about us in the least and just stopped and looked at us and allowed us to take her photo. Obviously she has hopes for a modeling career. Well, it's a tough job, but someone has to do it.
