Riding Bareback Not For Newbies
For some, riding bareback conjures up feelings of freedom and a real connection with their horse. It can be a lot of fun and can really teach you to get in synch with your horse.
BUT, and this is a big BUT, riding bareback takes skill and really shouldn't be attempted until you have the riding basics (balance, good seat, good hands) down pat. It's not safe for the rider, nor comfortable for the horse, to have a beginner rider bouncing all around. When you do try riding bareback, using a bareback pad is a nice transition from a saddle.
