The Western Folklife Center in Elko, Nevada has another wonderful exhibit on the craftsmanship of the tools of the working horseman’s world. Some of today’s finest custom saddle makers and spur makers were invited to show off there work. Most of the pieces are offered for sale.
The exhibit is called “Between Grass & Sky: Trappings of a Ranch Life” and runs from January 20, 2009 to August 29, 2009.
If you’re going to be anywhere near Elko, you’ll want to make time to see the exhibit. But if you can’t make it to Elko, you can experience the exhibit online at the the Western Folklife Center’s online exhibit gallery. They’ve done a great job of presenting the work with gorgeous photography (including stunning close ups of carving) and bios of each maker.
