The Art of Moseying
I just read a great article in "Horse Illustrated" magazine called "The Art of Moseying." Unfortunately, Horse Illustrated doesn't have a website version of their magazine or I'd just link you to it. It's certainly worth reading the entire article.
The article is written by Cynthia McFarland with Pat Parelli. The article is all about how a hurried, in-a-rush approach to our horses has a negative impact on them. Taking your time, not always being so task-oriented, and just plain "moseying" with your horse will pay great dividends.
It really hit me between the eyes. It made me think and realize how often "bad" days with my horse coincide with my own "in-a-rush" or "impatient" days. I know I'm going to be much more committed to the art of "moseying" because it's amazing how working on me, results in a happier and better horse.
