Used Saddle Pick of the Week: 15 1/2" Vintage Simco Show Saddle
The "Used Saddle Pick of the Week"
Every week we scour the Internet searching for a particularly juicy bargain on a high quality used western saddle and feature it here on the WSG Saddle Blog. The saddles featured are listed for sale on ebay as of the date of the post.
The Western Saddle Guide is not the seller of the saddles featured and does not make any representations about them. We encourage all potential buyers to do their own due diligence on the seller and the saddle before purchasing.
I'm just a sucker for vintage Simco saddles - especially ones as pretty as our pick this week. Simco saddles of 20-50 years ago were great, all-around saddles. Very solid construction. The proof is how many nice vintage Simcos are still around and in good shape. I know because I owned and enjoyed one myself.
This week our pick is a particularly fancy vintage Simco - a very handsome show saddle in dark oil with floral tooling, fancy stitched smooth leather seat, and wonderful silver trim.
The saddle has a 15 1/2" seat with semi QH bars - 6 1/4" gullet, so it won't fit a big, broad horse.
The saddle is extremely well cared for and has many, many miles left in it. It would be a shame if it didn't see the show ring again. It has so much more character than so many of the cookie-cutter show saddles being pumped out today.
