I love that term – functional art. What could be better than something that’s both useful and beautiful?

That’s the wonderful tradition that the Traditional Cowboy Arts Association (TCAA) celebrates. The incredible western art of  saddlemaking, bit and spur making, silversmithing and rawhide braiding, and the best of the best who create this art.

The TCAA website does a wonderful job of presenting the artists and their work. The photos are vivid and detailed. The stories behind the work and the artists are fascinating.

Take some time and visit the site and really look at how magnificently these artisans have combined utility and pure art. It always makes me fall in love with western craftsmanship all over again.
