Trail Saddles for sale
in our Tack Shop
Every week we scour the Internet searching for a particularly juicy bargain on a high quality used western saddle and feature it here on the WSG Saddle Blog. The saddles featured are listed for sale on ebay as of the date of the post.
Checking out our Picks each week will give you some great insight into buying used saddles. Make sure to click through to the actual listing to see all of the photos and description from the seller.
The Western Saddle Guide is not the seller of the saddles featured and does not make any representations about them. We encourage all potential buyers to do their own due diligence on the seller and the saddle before purchasing.
LAST WEEK’S PICK:
Last week’s Pick, a high quality 17″ McCall Wade Saddle, didn’t slip by unnoticed. There were 17 bids with a final selling price of $1825. Someone got themselves a wonderful saddle. If the seat size had been right, I would have been bidding on that one myself.
THIS WEEK’S PICK:
This week I’ve chosen a very different type of saddle – the first time I’ve recommended a saddle from an unknown maker. While there are many good used saddles for sale with no maker’s marks on them, it is much more difficult to determine quality when buying online
This week’s pick, however, is one I’d take a chance on. It’s a 14.5″ Vintage Trail Saddle . (The seller lists it as a 15″ saddle but photos show it to be 14.5″). The saddle looks to be from around the 1960′s and looks a lot like Simco saddles from that period. A solid, well balanced saddle in good shape.
Saddles of this type and era were usually made on Semi QH bars which is what the photo of the gullet measurement appears to show.
All in all, it’s a real nice looking smaller saddle that would be a great fit for a short-backed, smaller horse and a youth or small adult rider. If you’re looking to outfit your youth rider, you’d be much better buying a saddle like this than a low quality, shiny new saddle.
And you just can’t beat the price. As of this writing, there are two bids with a current high bid of $40.
