The “Used Saddle Pick of the Week”
Every week we scour the Internet searching for a particularly juicy bargain on a high quality used western saddle and feature it here on the WSG Saddle Blog. The saddles featured are listed for sale on ebay as of the date of the post.
The Western Saddle Guide is not the seller of the saddles featured and does not make any representations about them. We encourage all potential buyers to do their own due diligence on the seller and the saddle before purchasing.
Last week’s Pick, a really nice 16″ Cactus Saddlery Ranch Saddle, was definitely not undiscovered. The saddle had 33 bids and ended up selling for $1475. Someone got an almost-new, very high quality saddle that will last a lifetime for a very good price.
This week we’ve gone back to a great brand from the past – Tex Tan Hereford. I love everything about these great old saddles. They just seem to get better with age.
This saddle is a 14″ Roping Saddle with a bullhide-covered wood tree. The seller says the gullet is 6 3/4″, which they say is Semi QH bars. That’s too wide for Semi QH, so I’d follow up with the seller to confirm.
The saddle is set up for a short adult or youth with fenders extending from 30″ to 38″.
The saddle has some age on it but very light use, so there are many miles left in it. The starting bid price is a bit higher than normal for a Tex Tan of this age, but the condition warrants the price. This would be a great saddle to have in your barn.
