The "Used Saddle Pick of the Week"
Every week we scour the Internet searching for a particularly juicy bargain on a high quality used western saddle and feature it here on the WSG Saddle Blog. The saddles featured are listed for sale on ebay as of the date of the post.

The Western Saddle Guide is not the seller of the saddles featured and does not make any representations about them. We encourage all potential buyers to do their own due diligence on the seller and the saddle before purchasing.

Oh, we have found a real beauty this week. If you’re looking for a custom-quality working saddle at a non-custom price, this one’s for you.

Rafter W Saddlery, based in Rigby, Idaho (just down the road a bit from us here in southwest Montana), build fine, handcrafted saddles in the buckaroo tradition. The base price on their saddles is $2600 and they’re worth every penny.

raftterw.JPGOur pick this week is a year old 16" Custom Wade Roping Saddle from Rafter W. This is the personal saddle of the owner of Rafter W, Perry Ward, so you know it’s a well built saddle that’s been well cared for.

The saddle is made from Hermann Oak Leather, has a 6 3/4" gullet, in-skirt plate rigging, flower tooling, monel stirrups, bucking rolls, and matching breast collar.

There’s a lot of action on this saddle, with 10 bids in already and eight days left on the auction. The current bid, however, is still only $1525, significantly below the market value for this saddle.  You might want to take a serious look at this saddle. It’s a saddle you’ll be proud to own and will enjoy riding for the rest of your lifetime.
