Say “No” to Plastic Saddle Covers

If you shop for saddle covers, you’ll find plastic covers for sale in most tack shops. Whoever are making and selling these things sure don’t know much about saddles.

Plastic saddle covers hold moisture in and can cause serious cases of mildew. It would be better to leave your saddle exposed to the elements then to build a little hothouse of mold. Stay away from these awful things.

Covering your saddle is a good practice. You’ll keep dirt, moisture, crud and critters off and extend the life and look of your saddle. But make sure your cover is made out of nylon, fabric, or even just plain newspaper … and say "no" to plastic.
