New Rider Resource

We have quite a few new riders that visit the Western Saddle Guide website and blog that are drawn by the in depth information and how-tos about western saddles. From the amount of questions we receive from our visitors, it’s clear that, in addition to saddles, many new riders are looking for more general information about horses and riding.

I’d thought I’d share a very good general site designed for the new rider. It’s called, cleverly enough,  NewRider.com.  They do a really nice job of introducing you to all areas – riding, riding disciplines, horse care, tack care, dictionary of terms, and much more. My favorite is their extensive list of very useful how-tos – pulling a mane, giving wormer, tying up a haynet, fitting a bridle.

One caveat is that they’re a United Kingdom-based site so they’re coverage of the western riding world is a bit sketchy, but we won’t hold that against them. They’ve put together a great resource for the new rider.
