Stop Saddle Abuse

There’s always lots of discussion among riders about their saddle cleaning and conditioning practices. Folks are forever touting their favorite cleaners and conditioners and talking about how often they spruce up their saddles.
But you hear very little talk about the proper way to handle and store a saddle and that’s a shame, cause you can ruin a saddle a lot quicker by abusing it with poor handling than you ever will by missing a conditioning session or two.
It’s really common to see saddles tossed on the ground with the fenders folded up underneath or thrown in the back of a trunk and left to lie as they fall. It’s also common to see saddles stacked on top of each other and saddles stored with wet saddle blankets laid on top.
These kinds or poor saddle handling practices significantly shorten the life of a saddle and can cause problems for the horse. Well made saddles can easily last 50 years of heavy use if they’re well cared for.
Stop saddle abuse. Learn and practice good saddle storage and handling habits.
