Saddles Designed For Art and For Riding

I finally got around to reading my copy of the November issue of Western Horseman this weekend and I came across a little gem of an article about a saddle making husband-and-wife team with a unique approach.

Lisa and Loren Skyhorse are based out of Durango, Colorado. Their unique twist is that they make saddles that look like show and collectors saddles but are designed for everyday use.

"You can have it all. That means buyers should expect a comfortable, well-fit, balanced saddle that’s as fancy as anything seen in classic western movies and television show."

The saddles ARE gorgeous. Check out photos in the magazine or at their site (link below.) Probably a bit too fancy for my tastes in everyday using gear, but I’d sure love to have one in my collection.

How can i find out who the maker is of my saddle. Its a black western saddle, fully tooled, complete silver lacing, tooled with the look of rosettes, on the tag it has the number 992 and no saddle makers name. Thought you may have some knowledge of this or could possibly send me in the right direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If a picture would help please let me know as well. Thank You.

    Thank You,
Kathy Sjong (Norweigen name pronounced Shong)

    Hi, Kathy,
It will be very tough to identify the origins of your saddle if no maker is on the saddle. Check out this past post for some tips:
