Saddle Covers: Keep the Crud Off Your Stuff

I’ve spent a lot of money for my saddle so I’m pretty committed to taking good care of it. I always set it on a saddle rack and cover it with a saddle cover, even though it’s stored inside a tack shed.

Invariably when I go to get my saddle there’s a layer of dirt (I live in very dry and dusty southwest Montana) on the top of the cover and often some other ickier "things." Cat fur is very common as the cat has decided that the covered saddle makes a very comfy bed.

In addition to protecting the saddle from dirt and fur, the cover also protects from scratches and chewing from uninvited creatures. So, regardless of where you store your saddle, make sure you’re throwing a cover over it to keep off the crud.
