We’re Owners of Senior Horses

According to a new study of horse owners [Brakke Consulting and Market Diretions], more than half of all horse owners have animals 16 years old or older. Interesting, isn’t it? Bet you wouldn’t have thought that. I sure wouldn’t have and I happen to own a horse about to turn 17!

I think horses, just like with humans, are staying viable later into their life. Most horses of today have a pretty easy life without a lot of miles to beat them up. No longer do most horses "work for a living."  I know my horse, at sixteen, has endless energy and can go all day. But he’s had a pretty cushy life.
