Dwindling Riding Land
Living out here in the wide open country of southwest Montana, I sometimes forget how lucky we are to have access to almost endless amounts of land to ride on. We're blessed with National Forest land everywhere around us. We just load up the trailer and drive to any National Forest land and ride to our heart's content across miles and miles of gorgeous country - flat valleys to high timber, and everything in between.
But in other parts of the country, riding land is not so plentiful and is continuing to decline. This loss of land is a significant threat to the future of equestrian recreation. The Equestrian Land Conservation Resource is an organization dedicated to working for equestrian land access and protection. They are a clearing house of information, they assist local groups and landowners, and they partner with national organizations.
If you're concerned about access to riding land in your area, check our the ELCR website: http://www.elcr.org/
