Well Used Saddles
I'm a big believer in taking good care of your saddles. Clean them regularly and fully condition them once to three times a year depending on use. Keep them covered and stored out of direct sunlight on a saddle rack. That's all a given with me. But…
I love the look of a well worn leather saddle and the slight discolorations that happen over time and with heavy use. You can see a saddle's history and hundreds of stories in that wear.
I really love my new custom saddle built exactly to my specs, but I'll love it even more after hundreds of miles have given it some character and some stories to tell.
So, keep your saddle clean and conditioned but don't obsess about getting every mark and spot off of it. Those marks are it's history and show that the saddle has had a purpose and isn't just a piece of decoration. Ride that saddle with pride.
