New Equine Seach Engine - Equilink.com

There's a very neat new web search engine dedicated to the horse world. It's called Equilink and it has some really powerful categorization and navigation. You can search by keyword, discipline, breed, real estate, services, products and other categories. Definitely put together by "horse folks."

The concept is a good one and this execution looks really promising. I say "promising" because I think they have a few kinks to work out.

The engine seemed to be on the slow side, and their results are a bit puzzling. When you go to some of these categories, you would expect the top players to be at the top of the listings, but I found a kind of odd mix of results.

They don't mention what technology or methodology they're using to deliver the search results (there's no mention of Google, so I assume they're not using the Google Custom Search Engine functionality), so it's not clear what search result rankings are based on and whether advertisers receive preferential treatment.

But, as I say, these are a few kinks to be worked out and I'm rooting for them. It's a great concept and I hope they succeed. Check out:: Equilink.com
